Vincenzo Montella Confessed ‘Shock’ Fired AC Milan
Vincenzo Montella was shocked by AC Milan’s decision to fire him and suspected that this was a move triggered by club owners, not from the board of directors sbobetcasino.live.
The Rossoneri announced the dismissal of Montella on Monday (27/11), or the day after the 0-0 draw against Torino. It ended all speculation about his future, and Gennaro Gattuso stepped from the Primavera youth team to take over his position.
Montella has been under pressure in most of the season because of the poor performance of AC Milan, and the club has spent a lot of money in pre-season without getting a match.
The former Italian national team player was stunned by Milan’s decision, and he did not think the club’s directors wanted him to leave.
“I’m calm and I do not suspect anything, to be honest,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“I’m ready to train as usual, on a typical day like any other. It surprised me, there were other times where it would make more sense. This time the team gave answers, both technically and in terms of temperament, “he added.
“When I arrived at Milanello, I was greeted by Giuseppe Mangiarano, our general secretary, who came with me to meet the sporting director. Then Massimiliano Mirabelli told me that they had made a decision at night. I think it’s an option made by the owner, not the directors, “he continued.
Montella does not feel like leaving the club with a bad relationship with anyone, and he reveals that the atmosphere in the team is full of affection when he says goodbye to the players.
“The players greeted me affectionately. I do not like to say goodbye and that is a bad thing, but everyone is very fond of me. Even Riccardo Montolivo, who has been out of the team for some time, and Gabriel Paletta, who does not play much, also greeted me, “he concluded.
AC Milan are currently out of the top four in the Serie A standings, and are left very far from Napoli in first place. (Source: Four Four Two)
